If you are eligible for a preferred rating, you will most likely get a lower annual premium even if you purchased a term life policy many years ago. Effective 1/1/2000, Illinois is adopting the so called "triple XXX" legislation. These new rules limit the types of investments insurance companies can make with respect to premiums guaranteed longer than 10 years. The cost for premiums guaranteed longer than 10 years will increase in the new year.
